With the first British Eventing CCI5* competition, Badminton Horse Trials, only days away it seems like a good time to look at why the British equestrian community has a special place in the heart of Whale Of A Time Clothing.

Whale Of A Time owner and founder, Ellie Wales, has been brought up around horses and ponies for as long as she can remember. This has certainly contributed to her vision of Whale Of A Time Clothing becoming a stylish casual wear brand that fits seamlessly into a British rural lifestyle.

With equestrian events like Badminton & Burghley Horse Trials already highlighted in Ellie’s social calendar she knew they would be the best place to start bringing Whale Of A Time face-to-face with its customers and we’ve been attending these events every year since 2017! In an effort to push the brand further into the equestrian community, Ellie started to show support to individual young riders making their way to the top of their competitive abilities by qualifying and running for CCI5* events. Over the years Whale Of A Time Clothing has supported a number of riders you might have heard of…

Sam Ecroyd

One of our very first supported riders! This was an exciting year for Sam, finishing as No.1 U21 rider in the world as well as making his debut around one of the trickiest CCI5* courses at Burghley Horse Trials. Sam was regularly seen in a number of our best selling sweatshirts including the Norfolk Quarter Zip and the now returned but popular as ever Minke Sweatshirt!

Chuffy Clarke

Eventer turned showjumper, Chuffy Clarke, has had the support of Whale Of A Time Clothing since 2018. Over the years Chuffy has proven herself a talented event rider and has taken many Whale Of A Time styles round the cross country course including our discontinued Blakeney & Holkham Long Sleeved T-Shirts. Swapping cross country colours for fitted jackets, she’s now storming the show jumping circuit on her former eventer Dirk, but not without her Whale Of A Time essentials the Penzance Puffer Jacket and Women’s Morston T-Shirt.

Alice Casburn

Most recently you may have seen Rising Star of 2022, Alice Casburn, made her debut at Badminton and Burghley last year flying round CCI5* course in our Burnham Long Sleeved T-Shirt on the exceptionally talented Topspin. We are very excited to see her back on the entries board this year, and having recently finished in the top 20 with Topspin at Burnham Market CCI4*, we can’t wait to catch up with her in the run up to Badminton Horse Trials 2023.
