As we finish the end of the eventing season, it is a chance to reflect on my season and to make plans for the upcoming winter.
It has been a very strong season for me, finishing as the 50th placed rider in the world and no.1 u21 in the world.
Highlights have been finishing reserve champion in the Irish u25 national championships at Tattersalls with my top horse Wodan 111 who returned from injury this year. I also finished reserve champion in the national u25 British championships at Bramham. I had a great time at The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials with Whale Of A Time Clothing on their stand launching the best collection to date, the Autumn/Winter 2018! It was great to be involved in the Whale Of A Time Burghley Highlights video with it being my first time competing at Burghley Horse Trials. This combined with 60% of my runs this year finishing in the top 10 makes me feel very lucky to be supported by such great owners and sponsors. A special thanks must be for my home team for all of the hard work and effort they have put in this year.
It is now time for the event horses to have a well earned holiday and for the young horses to get into full swing. I am very lucky to have some very posh young horses which will make riding In the cold, winter months that little more enjoyable!
The plan is to go out to some showjumping and dressage shows to progress the young horses in a hope that they will come out ready to participate in eventing next year. Within the next few weeks we also are visiting quite a few young horse auctions. Hopefully we will spot a hidden gem and be able to add some literal extra horsepower to our team!
So with spirits high... bring on the cold!
